Joe Carden, 76, of Huntsville, passed away Friday. Born in Hackleburg, AL, Joe attended Florence State University and was a graduate of the Louisiana State University School of Banking. He began his banking career in 1963 and progressed to numerous executive positions with AmSouth Bank. He retired as the state president of Mississippi in 2002. Throughout his career he served in many leadership roles with numerous charitable and civic organizations. He was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church and enjoyed traveling and playing golf.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Carol; son, Scott Carden and wife, Jennifer; daughter, Brande Smith; and grandchildren, Tucker, Wade, Maddie and Harper.
Visitation will be from 12 to 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 16 at Trinity United Methodist Church. The funeral will follow at the church with the Reverend Dr. Charles Gattis officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or The American Cancer Society.
