The funeral service for Joe Baker, age 74 of Talladega, will be held on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville with Rev. David Holcombe officiating. Burial followed in the Christiana Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Baker passed away Sunday, May 20, 2018 at his home. A native of Randolph County, he had been living in Clay County for the past 50 years and worked in the pulpwood industry for over 20 years. Mr. Baker enjoyed, fishing, piddling and picking up scrap iron.
He is survived by one daughter, Mary Ann Watts of Lineville; six sons: Bobby Joe Baker (Willa) of Frankfort, KY, Danny Lee Baker (Janet) of Lineville, Thomas Jackson Baker (Gena) of Lineville, Scotty Wayne Baker (Kelly) of Talladega, Kevin Dewayne Baker (Brandi) of Delta and Charles David Baker (Kimberly) of Lineville; one brother, J.W. Baker of Chambers County: 14 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, plus a large extended family.
Mr. Baker was preceded in death by his parents: Elmer Jackson Baker and Nancy Whaley Baker; his wife, Dorothy Ann Gill Baker; one sister, Ruth East and one brother, Jimmy Lee Baker and two grandchildren: Jamie Edmondson and Carol Baker.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Joe Baker, Danny Lee Baker, Thomas Jackson Baker, Scotty Wayne Baker, Kevin DeWayne Baker, Charles David Baker, Tommy Baker and Steven Baker.
Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville in charge of the arrangements.
