Joe Ann Mitchell, 74, of Iuka, Mississippi, died Monday, June 10, 2013, at the Magnolia Regional Health Center in Corinth, MS. Joe Ann was born February 20, 1939 to Dorothy Comans. She accepted Christ at an early age, and became a member of Jones Chapel Christian Methodist Episcopal Church. She had many friends, and enjoyed bingo, basketball, and Atlanta Braves baseball. Visitation is scheduled for one hour prior to service time at the church on Thursday. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 13, at Jones Chapel C.M.E. Church. Interment will follow in Shady Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers include Kenneth Rutland, Walter Burgess, Willie Comans, Larry Long, Walter Williams, Sr., and George Long. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS is entrusted with arrangements. Survivors include two sons, Myron Mitchell, Sr. (Lucille), of Michigan City, IN, and Charles Mitchell of Chicago, IL; three daughters, Anita Mitchell (Walter Smith), Cathy Pritchard (Phillip), and Doris Digby, all of Iuka, MS; and five grandchildren, Myron Mitchell, Jr. (Alisha), Raelona Woodard, Tyler Pritchard, Braxton Pritchard, and Trey Mitchell. She was preceded in death by a son, J. D. Mitchell; her mother, Dorothy Mitchell Comans; three aunts, Lavada Johnson (Astor), Katie Bennett, and Celia Mae Lasley; and two uncles, Onan Mitchell and Herbert Mitchell.
