Job Readiness Workshops to be Held Prior to Huge Job Fair

HUNTSVILLE – The Alabama Career Center System will host a series of job readiness workshops beginning Friday, March 10 and continuing through Thursday, March 16 at Career Centers and other locations located throughout the Huntsville area.

Staff from several area Career Centers will conduct the three to four-hour training, which will cover such topics as résumé preparation, interview skills, how to “dress for success,” and soft skills such as timeliness and proper communication skills. Workshop participants will receive a Certificate of Participation that they can present to employers at the job fair. Veteran specific training will be provided.

The workshop is free and open to all who are interested, but registration is strongly encouraged. For specific addresses, more information, or to register, please call the Career Centers as listed on the attached flier.

Workshops will be held in Huntsville, Decatur, and Cullman on Friday, March 10th. Workshops will be held in Sheffield on Tuesday, March 14, in Rainsville on Wednesday, March 15, and in Albertville on Thursday, March 16.

The workshop is to help area jobseekers prepare for a regional job fair to be held in Huntsville on March 21 at the Von Braun Center. The job fair is being sponsored by the Alabama Career Center System / Department of Labor, WAFF News, and the City of Huntsville.

“We’re glad to be able help local jobseekers polish their skills so that they will be more marketable to employers,” said Fitzgerald Washington, Secretary of the Alabama Department of Labor. “The first impression is so important when looking for a job, and these workshops will help jobseekers prepare to make a great one!”

The job readiness workshop and the regional job fair are part of the efforts of the Alabama Workforce Council to foster collaboration between government, industry, and education. The Region 1 Council is made up of the following counties: Lauderdale, Colbert, Franklin, Marion, Limestone, Lawrence, Winston, Madison, Morgan, Cullman, Jackson, Marshall, and DeKalb.
