Joanne F. Garner, age 81 of Cowan, passed away on Monday, January 9, 2023, at Southern Tennessee Regional Health Systems. She was born in Chicago, Illinois on August 31, 1941, to the late John and Josephine VanKampen. A dedicated homemaker, Joanne cherished the time spent taking care of her family as well as baking, cooking, and sewing. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, working word search puzzles, and playing candy crush. Every Saturday night, she looked forward to having movie night with family and friends. Joanne was a devoted member of Cumberland Bible Chapel, where she attended every Sunday and Wednesday. In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her husband, Joseph Garner Sr; son, Joseph Garner Jr; grandson, Ronnie “Lee” Ladd Jr; granddaughter, Jennifer Garner Cunningham; great-grandson, Jaxon Tiner; and siblings, Roger Gliwa and John VanKampen Jr. Joanne is survived by her sister, Rose Kraft; children, Rose (Eddie) Hubbard, Josephine Brewer (Mark Zimmer), Paul (Dawn) Garner, Mark Garner, Anna (Tommy) Myers, John (Denise) Garner, Danny (Annette) Garner, Billy (Margaret Corbitt) Garner, Roger (Jeanette) Garner, and David (Brenda) Garner; special daughter, Mary Griggs Hunt; grandchildren, Dylan, Stacey, Nicholas, Angel, B.J., Joe, Allen, Barbara, Sarah, Brandon, Savannah, Joseph, Saralena, William, Teresa, D.J., Travis, Sammy, Haley, and Kandice; great-grandchildren, Whitney, Braxton, River, Brayden, Tori, Justice, Preston, Lucky, Paul, Doug, Destiny, Anna, Stacy, Joseph, Sarah, Marshall, Chase, Taylor, Dalton, Grayson, Evan, Dixie, Richard, Chloe, Nym, Lailena, D.J., Thomas, Ky, and Eli; great-great-grandchildren, Aria, Aubriella, and Zoey; step-grandchildren, Grant, Thomas, Tommy Jr, Misty, Michael, Bryan, Dusty, Kristi, David, Eddie, Cat, Beth, Destiny, Christina, and Tamara; step-great-grandchildren, Gage, Ethan, Lane, Wyatt, Haley, Cane, Dalton, Lilly, Jagger, Andrew, Carley, Adaline, Keegan, Adam, Jordan, and Jayden; step-great-great-grandchildren, Martin, Memphis, and Karter; several nieces and nephews; and friends at Cumberland Bible Chapel. Visitation will be from 5-8pm Wednesday, January 11, 2023, at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, January 12, 2023, in the Moore-Cortner Chapel with Pastor Dan Sargent officiating. Interment will follow at O’Dear Cemetery.
