JoAnna Moree Hazel Martin, age 74, currently of Summerville, Georgia passed away Friday, January 19, 2024 at Floyd Medical Center in Rome, Georgia. JoAnna was born December 23, 1949 in Chattanooga, Tennessee, daughter of Herbert Acie Wallace and Clara Moree Farrow Wallace. She was a former resident of Arab, Alabama and had only resided in Georgia for the last five years. She was married to Kenneth Vernon Hazel (DOD 5/8/2005). Joanna was a Licensed Practical Nurse working in the health care industry. She was of the Baptist faith and retained her membership in Arab First Baptist Church where she was respected and considered a godly woman. She actively participated in the church choir and enjoyed every minute of it. Her leisure time was often spent enjoying family time, playing the piano, baking, reading and her dog, Bentley.
JoAnna is survived by a loving family which includes her son, Christopher Hazel; daughters, Kendra J. Cooper (Russell) and Amber Wilson (Michael); eight grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Hazel; parents, Herbert and Clara Wallace; brother, Steven Wallace; one grandchild, Ashley; and one great grandson.
Services for JoAnna will be 2:00 pm Friday, January 26, 2024 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, 1340 North Main Street, Arab, Alabama. A visitation for friends and family will be prior to the service between 12:00 and 2:00 pm. Dr. Paul Murphy will officiate.
