JoAnn “JoJo” Sawyer, 85, died Thursday, October 22, 2015, in her home.
Visitation will be Monday, October 26th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Calvary Assembly Epicenter Campus. Funeral will be at 1 p.m. following the visitation at the Calvary Assembly Epicenter Campus. Interment will be Tuesday, October 27th at 10:30 a.m. at Jones-Beech Cemetery, Chatom, AL. Her son, Pastor George Sawyer, will be officiating and will be assisted by the Calvary Assembly pastoral staff. Roselawn Funeral Home directing.
She was born in McGehee, Arkansas, June 30, 1930. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, George W. Sawyer; parents, William H. and Bessie L. Morrison; three sisters, Vivian Hamm, Margaret Jarrett, and Louise Haynes; four brothers, W.H., Charles, Jackie, and Jimmy Morrison.
She is survived by her daughter, Paula Sawyer Beech (John), of Chatom; two sons, Pastor George H. Sawyer (Phyllis) and Blair Morrison Sawyer, of Decatur; four grandchildren, Meredith Sawyer Fairbanks (Jonathan), Nicole Sawyer Richey (Joey), Decatur, Marlon Beech (Tonya), of Chatom and Matt Beech (Lisa), of Daphne; sixteen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; and one sister, Charlotte Dean Skipper, of Niceville, FL.
Mrs. Sawyer devoted her life to her God, her family, and her church. She served and ministered on the Calvary Assembly Staff as the receptionist for over 20 years. Her kind voice and words of blessing touched each call she received.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the George W. (Papa) Sawyer Legacy Building Fund, 1413 Glenn St. SW, Decatur, AL
