JoAnn Barrick Nave, 85, of Athens, Alabama, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, September 26, 2026.
She was born on Thursday, August 28, 1941, to the late Otto Eugene Barrick and the late Martha Mickens Barrick.
JoAnn lived in the Athens community a majority of her life where she was a member of Sardis Springs Baptist Church. In her free time, she enjoyed riding around sightseeing, checking out the local yard sales, raising and taking care of her animals, as well as reminiscing of her days in California. Professionally, JoAnn loved driving a bus for the school system and enjoyed her time working at Rancl’s Furniture store as well as the Sunbeam factory. She deeply loved her family and her church.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Nave, her parents, as well as two brothers, Harold Barrick and Blaine Barrick.
JoAnn is survived by her two sons, Don (Becky) Nave and Bradley Eugene (Melody) Nave, two daughters, Cindy Moore and Angie Nave, seven grandchildren: Jake Nave, Dwon Nave, Dusty Nave, Braden Moore, Chelsey Moore, Drew Bradford, and Wesley Bradford, as well as lots of great grandchildren.
There will be a graveside service held for Mrs. Nave at Sardis Springs Cemetery in Athens, Alabama, on Monday, September 28, 2026, with service time beginning at 3:00 PM. Bro. Tim Keenum will officiate the service. Burial will follow in Sardis Springs Cemetery.
Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home is assisting the family with services.
