Joan and her husband, Frank, emigrated from England in 1957, living from that time on in North Carolina, New York, Alabama, and California, before she moved to Decatur in 2006. She was a wonderful seamstress, and became proficient in oil painting in her mid-life. She studied in Bible Study Fellowship for many years, and enjoyed her church, Fairview Baptist in Decatur, until she could no longer attend. She loved her time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and a last highlight for her was to hold her 2 week old twin great-grandsons two weeks before her death.
