Joan Marie Jenkins, age 75, resident of Columbia, passed away on Thursday, August 25, 2022, at her residence.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, August 28th at 2:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Dan Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Cemetery in Theta. The family will visit with friends on Sunday from 12:00 PM until the service hour at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Joan was born July 29, 1947, in Williamson County and was the daughter of the late Howard Giles and the late Katherine Giles Howell. She was married to Lige “Junior” Jenkins who preceded her in death in 2012. They were married for 50 years. She was of the Church of Christ faith. Joan was such a kind lady that wanted to help others, which showed in following her mother’s footsteps of opening her own boarding house for mentally challenged people. Her husband and her ran this house for 15 years together caring for the patients like they were her own family. Joan was also a true homemaker, keeping her house immaculate, tending to her flowers, and always having a sweet treat ready for anyone around. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Joan is survived by her son, Tim Jenkins of Columbia; grandchildren, Brandy Jenkins (Logan Long) of Lawrenceburg and Blake Jenkins of Lawrenceburg; great grandchildren, Kacyne Jenkins and Kylee Jenkins; brother, Jay Giles; cousin, Larry Giles; and special friend, James Cammuse.
Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Joey Giles.
Pallbearers will be Blake Jenkins, Kacyne Jenkins, Logan Long, Randy Palmroy, and Gary Beard.
