Joan Jones Carpenter

On May 25, 2021 Mrs. Joan Jones Carpenter passed away. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at Bell Sumiton Chapel with a graveside service following at 2:30 PM at Lineville City Cemetery. Rev. TJ Armstrong will officiate. Visitation will be 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Bell Funeral Home Sumiton has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Mrs. Carpenter was a loving military wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was born on November 10, 1943 in Moultrie, Georgia. She graduated from Jacksonville State University with a degree in education, then followed with a Masters of Education from Auburn University. In her spare time, Joan loved to craft, travel, read and research family genealogy.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Allan Lofton Carpenter; parents, Idelle “Dot” and Ira “Pug” Jones; brothers, Donald and Glenn Jones; father and mother-in-law, Charles and Nell Carpenter; brother-in-law, Rev. Larry Carpenter; and sister-in-law, Nellwyn Blackmon.

She is survived by her son, Carl Carpenter (Angie); grandchildren, Ke’haulani Bohannon (Zach), Deven Carpenter, Breanna Carpenter, Leesa Carpenter, Mattie Lewis and Carla Davis; nephews, David Carpenter, Adrian Carpenter, Kevin Jones and Matthew Blackmon; nieces, Sara Thompson and Anna Blackmon; and sister and brother-in-law, Laura Carpenter and Steve Blackmon.
