, 93, passed away in the comfort of her family at Crestwood Medical Center. Mrs. Steele was born in Cincinnati, Ohio to Emile and Octavia Ferry, and relocated to Huntsville in 1957 where she raised her four children.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Samuel T. Taylor in 1954 and William H. Steele III in 1978. Joan is survived by her son, William Steele IV (Catherine) of Huntsville; daughters, Jamie Criss (Bob) of Huntsville, Christine Tudor (Steve) of Brentwood, Tennessee and Mindy Brooks (Jim) of Virginia Beach, Virginia; grandchildren, Chris Baldy, Bennett and Garrett Steele, Jordan Haggard, Casey Lipscomb, and Jay and Sam Brooks; and great-grandchildren Alexis, Kent and Walt Baldy.
Visitation will be from 12 noon to 2 p.m. Friday at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 3 p.m. at Maple Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Eric Kholer officiating.
