Jo Lassiter of Hazel Green went to be with the Lord on Thursday morning while resting at home.  She was 79. Having been born and raised in Greensboro, North Carolina, she graduated from Grimsley High School in 1962.   Mrs. Lassiter was a devoted follower of Christ and a faithful part of the Carter’s Grove Baptist Church where she had worked as secretary and treasurer for many years.

For over 30 years, she worked as the office manager for William Wilson Painting.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bascom Erasmus Lassiter Jr.;  her siblings:  Donald Peeples, Dorothy Curlee, and Glenda Fogelman;  Her parents: Burty Alan Peeples & Ella Mae Bowman Peeples.

Surviving family members include her son and daughter-in-law, Bascom “Buddy” Lassister and his wife, Traci;  her daughter, Cindy Shepard;  her grandsons: Curtis Shepard, Wesley Shepard, Tyler (Kelli) Lassiter; her great-granddaughter, Addilyn Lassiter;  her niece to whom she was very close, Jewel Fargis.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 2pm at Hazel Green Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Weaver and Pastor Billy Taylor officiating.  The family will begin receiving friends at 12:30pm.  Burial will follow the service and will be in Charity Cemetery.
