Jo Ann “Grannie” Hicks, 75 of Summertown, Tn passed away peacefully at home January 10, 2020. Jo Ann was born in Summertown on April 14, 1944 and was of the Baptist Faith. She was a disabled retiree of the General Motors Fisher Body plant in Livonia, Michigan. During her life her on earth she had a big heart for helping people & stray animals. Always trying to make sure those people and animals were taken care of was what she did. The love she had for her children, grandchildren & great grandchildren was a mighty big love. She is survived by her daughter Sharon (Jackie) McKennon, son Robert W. Hicks Jr. both of Summertown and stepson Robert Anthony Hicks of Huntington, Tn. Grandchildren, Holly (Phillip) Wilson, Rusty Hicks, Heather Hicks & Maddie Hicks. Great grandchildren Ashley Wilson, Millie Mckennon, Macy McKennon, Reese Wilson, Mason McKennon, Lincoln Wilson, Hazel, Harper & Harlee.Sisters Wilma Brashears, Peggy Braden & Lynn Smith. Also several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends & her fur baby Shaggy. She was preceded in death by her parents Gerald “Dutch” Hayes & Dellar J. Payne, husbands Floyd F. Phillips & Robert W. Hicks Sr. & grandson JJ McKennon.
A visitation will be conducted January 13, 2020 at Pettus-Turnbo Funeral Home from 1:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m. with a funeral service to follow at 3:00 p.m. Bro. Art McCormick will be officiating.
