Jimmy Wayne Black Jimmy Wayne Black, age 81, of Detroit, AL, passed away on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at his residence.  Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 13, 2024 at 1:00pm from the Otts Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Wesley Chapel Cemetery.  Bro. B.J. Mills to officiate.  Visitation will be held at the funeral home prior to the funeral service from 11:00am until 1:00pm.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude’s, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN  38105.

Jimmy was born on March 7, 1943 in Lamar County, AL to the late Greely Black and the late Minnie Lee Gilliand Black.  He was a graduate of Sulligent High School.  Jimmy previously worked and retired from 3M after 35 years of dedicated service.  He loved being outdoors, especially working in his garden or riding his tractor on the farm.  He also enjoyed watching football and was very involved in his grandson’s sporting activities which brought him such joy.  Jimmy loved his family dearly and cherished every moment spent with them.  His loving and tender heart will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.  Jimmy was a member of Detroit First Baptist Church.

Daughter: Joy (Mark) Moore, Hamilton, AL

Brother: Billy Black, Sulligent, AL

Grandchildren: Sarah Black, Ben Moore, and Sam Moore
