Jimmy Roe Elrod, age 71, a resident of Stanton, TN, passed away Saturday, January 29, 2022, in Whiteville, TN. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at 2:00 PM at the Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church in the Hillville Community with burial to follow in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Bro. John Ed Watkins will officiate the service. Visitation for Mr. Elrod will be Tuesday, February 1, 2022, from 12 noon – 2:00 PM at the church. Jimmy was born on August 19, 1950, in Haywood County to Woodrow and Ruby Byrd Elrod, both whom preceded him in death. He was self-employed in the construction business. He is survived by his son, Jimmy Scott Elrod of Brownsville, TN; his daughter, Tammie Elrod Staggs (Bruce) of Whiteville, TN; one brother, Donald Elrod (Bessie) of Savannah, TN; three sisters, Carolyn Vatter of Colorado, Bettye Kelly of Brownsville, TN and Brenda Gatlin of Whiteville, TN; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Wilson Elrod and Billy Elrod; three sisters, Ann Wyatt, Virginia Austin, and Katherine Elrod. Pallbearers for the service are Dustin Staggs, Jacob Staggs, Jason Elrod, Clay Antwine, Ricky Morris, Barney Wyatt and Cody Archer. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jim Nails and Danny Austin. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials be made to the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery Trust Fund, c/o Danny Watson, 1234 Hillville Loop, Whiteville, TN 38075.
