Jimmy Ray Mims, age 73, of Russellville, left this life on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at his residence.
Jimmy was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and uncle to his family, and he was loved by everyone who knew him. He worked at Jeffrey’s Steel and later as the janitor at Tharptown School. He was a member of the Church of God. He loved to be outside, mowing the grass on his riding lawn mower with his side kick, Teddy Bear, with him. He was a devoted and diehard Alabama fan, ROLL TIDE. With that in mind, the family asks that you wear your favorite Alabama attire to the visitation and service.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his children, Alisha Swinney (Rodney), Heather Mims (Marcus), Johnnie Faye Brazell (Joel), Teressa Mims Bearden, grandchildren, Nicole Godsey (Hunter), Jessica Swinney, Thomas Swinney (Jessica), Robbie Smith (Jacob), Landon McClellan, Donovan Brazell (Kimmy), Kaleyonna Miller (Austin), Merissa Brazell, Jake Bearden (Hannah), Kaleb Bearden (Alyssa), Bethany Nulph (Bo), William Lane (LaShay); great-grandchildren, BreAnna, Sammy, Brantlee, Gunner, Julia May, Adleigh Jane, Drema; brother, Joe Mims (Gail); a host of nieces & nephews; and last but definitely not least, his four-legged side kick Teddy Bear.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Dianne Mims; parents, William & Ludie Mims; brothers, James Mims Jr., Bobby Mims, Charles Mims, John William Mims, Fred Mims; sisters, Brenda Rogers, Barbara Weeks, Dean Mims; and baby sister. He was also preceded by his mother-in-law, Thelma Murray; father-in-law, Charles Murray; grandchild, Alex Godsey; daughter of the heart, Lisa Lane; and special nephew like a grandson, Jonathon Entrekin.
