Jimmy Lamar Roberts, 73, passed away peacefully at home in Huntsville, Alabama on October 1, 2025. He was born in Dyersburg, TN on March 3, 1952, and primarily grew up in Memphis before proudly joining the United States Army in 1970. Jimmy’s service in the Army led him to spend several years in Miesau, Germany where he worked as a Light Air Defense System Electric Repairman.

He was honorably discharged from the Army in 1979 with the rank of Staff Sargeant and graduated Columbia College, earning his business degree in 1980.

Following his active-duty service, Jimmy began a long and successful career in civil service on the Patriot Air Defense Systems for the United States Government. Jimmy was handpicked to manage the multi-million-dollar Patriot Recapitalization Program at the Letterkenny Army Depot in Franklin County, Pennsylvania where he worked for twenty years. After retiring from civil service, he accepted a position as a contractor and was instrumental on the Patriot Air Defense Depot system in the United Arab Emirates.

Above all else, Jimmy loved his family deeply. He was a devoted husband to Michele for nine years. Being “Grandpa” was his proudest role, and he treasured every hug, smile and moment shared with his grandchildren. From simple visits to special occasions, he loved nothing more than watching his grandchildren grow and being a part of their lives. He also had a passion for Harley Davidson motorcycles and a knack for repairing anything that needed fixing.

He is survived by his loving wife, Michele Roberts; his son, Jerry Roberts; beloved grandchildren, Maria Huie (Evan), Julia Roberts, Jeremy Roberts; great-grandchild Layla Roberts; and sister, Susan Gatlin (Rickey). He is also survived by Michele’s three daughters, Ashley Martin, Dara Griffin (Brett), and Tara Bennewitz (John); and grandchildren, Evelyn, Ben, James, Elle, Marty, Collins; and two of the most loyal dogs, Sly and Dex.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Roberts, a Baptist preacher of 49 years, mother, Mary Roberts, sister, Debbie Curtis, and beloved dog, Maxwell.

Visitation will be held from 4:30-5:30 p.m. on Monday, October 13th, with the funeral service immediately following at 5:30 at Laughlin Service Funeral Home in Huntsville, AL.
