Jimmy K. Luther, 79, died Tuesday, September 23, 2014, at his home in Mantachie. He was born May 13, 1935, to V.L. and Gladys Lucille Bost Luther. He was a longtime and active member of the Mantachie United Methodist Church. He was a Veteran, serving in the United States Army. He retired from the Mississippi State Cooperative Extension Services as the county agent for Itawamba county after 30 years of service. He was a member of the Mantachie Lions Club, Gideons, and Habitat for Humanity. He enjoyed farming and raising cattle, which he did most all his life. He was an avid Mississippi State Bulldog fan. He was a loving husband and loved being around his family.

Services will be at 3 p. m. Wednesday, September 24, at the Mantachie United Methodist Church with Rev. Ronnie Goodwin officiating. Burial will be in Center Star Cemetery. McNeece -Morris Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Frances Luther; one son, Brian Long (Kim) of Fulton; two grandchildren, Jake Long of Senatobia and Erin Long of Fulton; two sisters, Jane Russell (Ray) of Somerville, TN, and Judy Winter of Memphis.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Lamar Luther ; one sister, Gladys Rogers; and his parents.

Pallbearers will be Ronnie Hartness, Roy Doss, Joe Goforth, Stacy Russell, Eddie Cooley, Wayne Guin, Roy Smith, and Joe Malone.

Visitation will be from 1 p. m. until service time Wednesday at the Mantachie United Methodist Church.
