Jimmy Hugh Nix was born on October 30, 1937 and died on July 14, 2025. Visitation will be Thursday, July 17, 2025 at 12pm with funeral services following at 1pm at Colbert Memorial Chapel. Ben Hayes will be officiating. Burial will be in Franklin Memory Gardens. He was a member of Highland Park Church of Christ.
Jimmy loved a lot of things. He loved fishing, driving and fixing cars (so much so that he hand stitched the interior of his 1955 Chevy), mowing the grass, Alabama football, going to Disney World, slipping $20 and $100 bills into people’s hands, watching hummingbirds, his job at Reynolds & Wise Alloys, working to make everyone’s lives better… but there’s nothing he loved more than his family and the Lord. His bride of 63 years, Ann, the pride of his life, his daughter Tanya, his beloved son in law, Keith, his cherished granddaughters, Asia and Iva, and whole host of brother and sister in laws, nieces, and nephews. That’s what he loved most in the world.
Thankfully, he knew that there was more than just this world. He knew he’d be headed to spend eternity in paradise with Jesus. Jimmy left knowing that this wasn’t goodbye, that he had done his job leading his family so that one day, they’ll join him in Heaven. Isn’t that all we can ask for out of this life?
Pallbearers will be Keith Duren, Tyrus Mansell, Jarrod Bendall, Anthony Dempsey, and Gavin McGee. Honorary pallbearers will be Leon Strickland and Charles Bendall.
We would like to say a special thanks to the ones who have taken such great care of Jimmy final months and days on earth, specifically those at Mitchell Hollingsworth, Florence sing & Rehab, and Compassus Hospice Care.
