Mr. Jimmy Harrell Bates, age 71, of Scottsboro, passed away on April 15, 2026, at his home. Jimmy dearly loved his family.
Mr. Bates was preceded in death by his parents, Jimmy and Mildred Bates; brothers, Ted, Raymond, Danny, and Morris Bates; sisters, Patsy Bates and Janet Knight.
He is survived by his wife, Becky Bates; daughters, Ashley Sowash, Destiny Bates, and Jessica Bates; and son, Ryan Whitehead; grandchildren, Dylan McCord, Jackson McCord, Ava McCord, Declan White, Ella Kate Sowash, Karsyn Whitehead, and Rylee Whitehead; sisters, Relonda (Dee) Harper, Mary Frazier, and Doris (James) Turner.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 16, 2026, from 11:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M. at the Scottsboro Funeral Home. Funerals Services will be conducted on Thursday, April 16, 2026 at 2:00 P.M. at the Scottsboro Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Kennamer Cemetery in New Hope, Alabama.
