Jimmy Gene Smith age 84 of Athens, passed away Thursday, August 1, 2013 at his residence. Mr. Smith was born October 7, 1928 in Giles County, TN to Razzie Smith and Cleo Bullington Smith.
Services will be Sunday August 4, 2013 2:00 p.m., at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Richard Durham officiating. Visitation will be Saturday, August 3, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hesters Chapel Cemetery.
Mr. Smith was a member of Hobbs Street Church of Christ. He was a lifelong cattle farmer and a member of the Alabama Cattleman’s Association.
Survived by his wife of 61 years, Sarah Smith of Athens; two sons, Rodney Smith and wife, Pam and Eddie Smith and wife, Pamela both of Athens; two grandchildren, Erica Smith and Bailey Smith both of Athens; several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Barry Smith, Larry Stovall, Glenn King, Ryan Griffin, Jason Gregory and Stan Hogan.
