Jimmy Edgar Walker, age 92, of Winchester, passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on December 3, 1933, in Nashville, Tennessee, to the late James D. and Gladys R. (Harris) Walker.
Jimmy was a devoted educator who spent more than thirty-seven years teaching and making learning enjoyable for his students. His dedication extended beyond the classroom, as he also spent time coaching basketball after school.
A man of strong faith, Jimmy loved the Lord and devoted much of his life to serving others through the church. Over the years, he served as a minister or song leader at Owl Hollow Church of Christ, Oak Grove Church of Christ, Bethel Church of Christ, and Milford Road Church of Christ. He most recently attended Huntland Church of Christ.
Jimmy was also skilled with his hands and enjoyed staying busy. He could often be found working on cars and especially enjoyed collecting toy trucks and jukeboxes.
In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by his loving wife, Martha Jean Walker; sons, Kevin Walker, Keith Walker, and Kirk Walker; grandson, Christopher Leigh Humphreys; and sister, Johnnie Fulcher.
He is survived by his sons, Kim Walker (Dena Frazier) and Kerry Walker; daughter, Konnie Humphreys (Tom); daughters-in-law, Karen Walker and Gail Walker; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2026, from 9:00am -9:30am at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at Watson Memorial Park.
