Jimmy Dale Clifton, 66, of Cherokee, died Wednesday, December 12, 2012. Visitation will be 6-9p.m., Friday at Morrison Funeral Home of Cherokee. The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday at the funeral home chapel with burial at Franklin Memory Gardens. Rev. Chuck Lansdell and Dr. Gary Cosby will officiate.
Mr. Clifton was a native of Russellville. He worked at TVA Colbert Fossil Plant for 35 years where he served as Unit Operator and Instructor. He was the assistant chief of the Cherokee Volunteer Fire Fighters; he had served there for 40 years. Mr. Clifton was a member of the IBEW 558 and 765, a lifetime member of the Cherokee Rescue Squad, Oakland Volunteer Fire Department, Riverton Rose Trail Volunteer Fire Department, Cherokee Public Library, and First Baptist Church of Cherokee.
Mr. Clifton was preceded in death by his parents Chris C. Clifton and Sylvia Pilgrim Clifton.
Survivors include his loving wife of 44 years, Fay Norris Clifton; sisters, Debbie Clifton Williams and Rita Clifton Gilbert (Tim); nephews, Matt Williams (Bethany), Adam Williams, Zac Gilbert (Stephanie), and Michael Brian Patterson; great nephews, Clifton Gilbert and Cole Williams; great niece, Laila Gilbert; mother-in-law, Louise Smith (Andrew); sister-in-law, Kay Patterson; aunt, Mary Jo McCollister (Jerry); and loving cousins, Linda Parsons (Robert), Beverly Atkins (Grant), John Atkins, and David Atkins.
Pallbearers will be Robert Smith, Kenneth Blackstock, John Campbell, Scott Hayes, Arthur Walker, Dewey Willingham, Matt Moore, David Isom, and Jimmy Tapp.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Cherokee Fire Explorers, Cherokee Volunteer Fire Fighters, Oakland Volunteer Fire Department, Riverton Rose Trail Volunteer Fire Department, and Cherokee Rescue Squad.
In lieu of flowers donation can be made to Cherokee Volunteer Fire Department, Cherokee Rescue Squad, or the Cherokee Public Library.
