JimmieJimmie Lyn Littleton Bounds of Huntsville, AL went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday.

Mrs. Bounds was the daughter of Florence Longcrier Wade and was born in Carbon Hill in 1924. She graduated from Woodlawn High School in Birmingham in 1942. She later graduated from Montevallo in 1946 in Business Administration. Jimmie Lyn served as a youth/student minister in Florence and Tallahassee, FL. From those experiences, she felt led by the Lord to go into church work and entered Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, TX. There she met and married Frank Ferguson Bounds. After graduating from seminary, she gave birth to a daughter, Elizabeth Lyn. They soon moved to California where Jimmie Lyn got her teaching certificate and a masters in counseling at UCLA. When her daughter, Beth, when to kindergarten, Jimmie Lyn was her teacher. In 1966, they moved to Birmingham where she was called to Ruhama Baptist Church as the Children’s Director. There she started a preschool program, organized multiple vacation bible schools, bible drills, and the church’s Bicentennial celebration. In 1972, Jimmie Lyn moved to Auburn and worked as a counselor in Financial Aid. She later used her counseling abilities to help start the nursing school at Auburn University as the advisor. She counseled hundreds of students who are serving others as nurses all over the country. She was very involved in the choir and student ministry at First Baptist Church of Auburn.

In 1989, she retired with a lovely celebration and moved back to Birmingham where her mother, daughter, son-in-law, and their children resided. Jimmie Lyn was an active member of Dawson Memorial Baptist Church where she sang in the choir, taught a ladies Sunday school class, and was President of Women’s Missionary Union. In 2004 she moved to Huntsville to be close to her family and joined First Baptist Church. When living at Somerby, she led a book club and various bible studies. Her love for the Lord and desire to share her faith continued all her life. Her joy was contagious.

She is survived by her daughter, Beth Bounds Bice; son-in-law, Vernon; granddaughters, Libby Diaz (Tony), Cappy Bice, Tabitha Bice; and her brother, Dr. Taylor Littleton (Lucy).

Visitation will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 pm Thursday, May 1 at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. A service of celebration will be held on Friday May 2 at 11:00 am in the First Baptist Church of Huntsville chapel followed by the burial at Jefferson Memorial Gardens in Trussville at 3:00 pm. The family would like to thank the loving and caring staff of Whitesburg Gardens for their attentive care over the years.
