Jimmie Faye Grimes Mrs. Jimmie Faye Fossett Grimes, age 91, of Albertville, Alabama, passed away on April 22, 2025. She was born August 26, 1933, in Whiton (DeKalb County), Alabama, to the late Ben and Corene (Bush) Fossett. A graduate of Albertville High School, she played both softball and basketball. She worked in various roles early in life, later choosing to be a full-time mother. One of her most fulfilling roles was substitute teaching in local schools.
A woman of strong faith, Mrs. Grimes was active in Mt. High United Methodist Church, where she and her husband led youth ministry and participated in Lay Witness missions. She later attended Solitude Baptist Church and Happy Home Baptist Church, where her brother was pastor. She enjoyed Bible studies, senior trips, and serving others. After retirement, she continued making memories with family and friends through camping, crafting, cooking, and “thrifting.” She was a member of the Guntersville Methodist Church Prayer Shawl Ministry and volunteered for many years at Shepherd’s Cove Hospice Thrift Store.
Mrs. Grimes is survived by her children, Ronnie (Deborah) Grimes and Pam (Jim) Brady; sister, Bettye Street; grandchildren, Jennifer (John) Amos and Ben (Kayleigh) Grimes; great-granddaughters, Taylor Smith and Lexi Grimes; honorary granddaughter, Mary Fisher; and many other beloved family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Grimes; grandson, LCpl David Miles; and brothers, Neal and Billy Fossett.
Visitation will be held Thursday, April 24, 2025, from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m. at Adams Brown Service Funeral Home. A service will follow on Friday, April 25, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel with Bro. Joey Cannady and Bro. Glen Pankey officiating. Burial will be at Solitude Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers include Ricky, Larry, Keith, Kenny, Kip Fossett, and John Amos. Honorary pallbearers are Blake Fossett and Rodney Richardson.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Marshall Cancer Center, 2320 Homer Clayton Drive, Guntersville, AL 35976.
