Jim Phillips, age 53 of Guntersville, formerly of Dora, passed away on September 16, 2022. He is preceded in death by his grandparents Mr. and Mrs. James H. Phillips, Sr. and Mr. and Mrs. Talmadge T. Phillips; father, James H. Phillips, Jr. and his wife Salena Phillips. Jim is survived by his mother, Rita Phillips Rogers; children, Austin Phillips (Ellen) and Scarlett Phillips (Austin); sister, Kim Humber (Keith); grandson, Hudson Phillips; aunts, Judy Nail, and Jan Chappell (Greg), nieces Sloan Courington and Sawyer Courington and several cousins. He attended Bagley Jr. High School and Corner High School. He also served in the United States Army. Jim worked and served his community as a Fire/Medic for 30+ years. He loved his job. During this time he also volunteered and worked serving families during several natural disasters, including hurricane Katrina. Jim was an avid outdoorsman with his favorite sport being alligator hunting. He loved Auburn football and his four beloved dogs; Winston, Lila-Jean, Sadie and Rommel. Jim was known by his family and friends as a comedian. To know Jim was to love him. He was deeply loved and will be deeply missed by both his family and friends. Jim’s family welcomes you to join them in honoring his life at the New Horizon Memorial Funeral Home Chapel from 2-4 pm on Sunday, September 18, 2022.The family will hold a private burial in Bethel Baptist Cemetery at a later date. Bro. Greg Chappell and Bro. Roger Reid will officiate.
