Mr. Jim Jaggers“Jim” John James Jaggers passed away at his home in Scottsboro, AL on March 19, 2026 at the age of 81 after a brief illness.

Jim was a gregarious, fun loving man with a great smile who loved to laugh. He gave the best hugs and never met a stranger. He was a friend to many. He had a close, personal relationship with the Lord that he held near and dear to his heart. He believed in being honest and open and did not back down from an opportunity to defend what was right. He was such a great storyteller and enjoyed recounting old family history. He had an appreciation for music but especially loved to sing. He was very artistic which manifested itself through his drawings and beautiful penmanship. He had an affinity for buffalo as he found them to be majestic.

Jim was born on July 7, 1944 in Blytheville, AR to Gladys Loraine (Mick) Jaggers and Alton “Skinny” Jaggers. He moved to Fort Pierce, FL at the age of 8 and graduated from Dan McCarty High School in 1962. He served in the US Navy from 1962-1965 and was stationed on the USS Saratoga where he accumulated many entertaining tales from his Mediterranean Cruise.

After his time in the Navy, he began his 28 year career with Piper Aircraft. While his primary focus was in Methods Engineering, he still found the time to earn his private pilot’s license. His second career with MetLife began in 1992. He earned many designations including his LUTCF, MDRT and his NASD certification, as well as being recognized at several Leaders Conferences. He finished his time there as the Director of Training until he retired in 2006. During his career at MetLife is also where he met the love of his life, Jeanne. They fell in love and enjoyed 30+ years together.

Jim loved telling stories of his many happy childhood memories including time spent in the Ozark mountains at his family’s cabin and growing up on “the drive” in Fort Pierce. He relished being able to enjoy the Indian River in the front and duck hunting the Savannah Wetlands in the back.

Jim and Jeanne moved to Scottsboro, AL in 2013, which he lovingly referred to as God’s Country. His greatest joy was working diligently in his yard, even earning Scottsboro’s Yard of the Month – TWICE!

Jim is survived by his loving wife Jeanne Jaggers; his children Lori Jaggers
Ross (Todd), Merica Jaggers Jones (Dwight) and Jimmy Jaggers (Tiffany); his grandchildren Morgan Ross, Camile Mayes and DiAndre Mayes. He was predeceased by his parents, son-in-law Jody Ross and life-long friend Barry Parker.

Arrangements are being handled by Scottsboro Funeral Home. Visitation will be Saturday, March 28 from 1:00pm-3:00pm with a service immediately following. Rev. Max Croft will be officiating.
