Jewell-Jowers-1434298981Jewell Gibson Jowers, 92, died Sunday, June 14th, at her home surrounded by her children. Jewell was born May 27, 1923 in Lexington, TN to Wilford & Mamie Fesmire Gibson. Jewell graduated from Lexington High School and attended West Tennessee Business College before moving to Memphis where she worked at Sears. Upon her return to Lexington, she worked at ASCS Office, Gould/Century Electric, Lexington Metal Products, and Walmart as well as at home as a homemaker. Jewell was married to F.L. Jowers, Jr. for 61 years before his death in 2009. Jewell was a devout follower of Christ and a faithful member of Expressway Church of Christ. Jewell is survived by her children, Roger (Gail) Jowers, Stan Jowers, Marty (Cheri) Jowers, Marlane (Terry) Sheppard, Greg Jowers, all of Lexington and Lisa (Leo) Smith of Crystal River, FL, 14 grandchildren, Carrie Jowers, Brandon (Jodi) Jowers, Jessica Jowers, Heather Sheppard, Alan (Kimberly) Jowers, Flynn (Amanda) Jowers, Hollie (Paul) Wallace, Sarah Beth (Raymond) Elvington, Torrey Sheppard, Rachel (Shane) Beecham, Becca Jowers, Seth Jowers and Shannon Maness & Christy Blankenship, 21 great-grandchildren, three nephews, Ralph “Spud” Gibson, Jerry Lunsford, & Freddy (Carolyn) Jowers, one niece, Carla “Jan” (Robin) Roberts, and many beloved family members. She was preceded in death by her husband, F.L. Jowers, Jr., an infant son, her parents, her brothers, Irdell Gibson & Billy Roger Gibson, her sisters, Annie (Tommy) Lunsford, Irene Gibson, Marceil Gibson Harper, Edna Gibson (Carl Lee) Jowers, & Muriel Gibson, two great-grandchildren, Noah Alan & Brayden Alan, and two daughters-in-law, Rita & Graple. Her family would like her remembered as a faithful wife, selfless & loving mother, 50-year cancer survivor, and someone who always put others ahead of herself. Her sweet smile will be missed by all who met her. Visitation will be Monday, June 15th at 11:00 am at Pafford Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, June 16th at 2:00 pm in the chapel at Pafford’s with burial to follow at Hare Cemetery.
