Jewell A. Spelce Jewell A. Spelce, 85, of Huntsville went to be with her savior Saturday evening. She was married to James McKenzie and had three children then later married Gaylor Spelce in 1978. Mrs. Spelce worked for the Madison County Commission for over 20 years and was a member of Holmes Street United Methodist Church. She was an avid reader and loved playing cards. Miss Independent also loved traveling the world while she was physically able. Mrs. Spelce was a granny who adored her grandchildren and enjoyed aggravating them. Always laughing, she kept people on their toes with her humor up until her last moments.

Survivors include daughter, Tana Lane and husband, Harvey; sons, James McKenzie and Frank Lee McKenzie; Grandchildren, Bucky Lane, Drew Lane, and Matt Lane; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; Jesse Anderson and Versie Gray; and her husband, Gaylor Spelce.

Visitation will be from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. The funeral service will immediately follow in the chapel with the Pastor Todd Owens and Pastor Bob Fuller officiating. Burial will be in Huntsville Memory Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Huntsville Public Library or Children’s of Alabama.
