Jewel Opal Henderson
(November 9, 1925 – May 12, 2013)
Jewel Opal Belk Henderson, age 87, of Sheffield died, Sunday, May 12, 2013. Her family will receive friends Wednesday, 10- 11 a.m. at Morrison Funeral Home of Tuscumbia. Her funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel with Curtis Lewey officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Pontotoc, Mississippi. An additional visitation and service will be held at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Pontotoc, MS from 3-4 p.m.
Mrs. Henderson was a native of Hamilton, AL. She was a member of Heritage Baptist Fellowship Church and was retired from the Bolivar County School systems after twenty five years of teaching service. She was a member of the Gospel Heralds Choir of Tupelo, MS, DAR of Cleveland, MS, Cleveland Garden Club and the Women’s Club of Cleveland, MS. Her Degrees include; Bachelor of Science in Education, Master of Education and Education Specialist.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Jessie Cletus and Zina Francis Gann Belk; brother, Dayton Belk; sisters, Emma Lee Greenhill, Beatrice Easterling, Geneva Green and Jessma Hanhuth.
She is survived by her husband, Odis W. Henderson of Sheffield; daughter, Zina Kaye King of Milton, FL; foster daughters, Deborah Bise and Janis Proctor and three grandchildren, Elizabeth, Rebecca and Matthew.
Pallbearers are Ray Shirley, Tinker Evans, Kenneth Brooks, James White, Larry Smart and Allen Easterling.
Honorary pallbearer is Matthew Phillips.
