Jewel Christine Stephens Moore, 105, resident of Raymond and former resident of Blue Mountain and Tippah County, passed away Saturday, January 21, 2023 at Lakeland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Jackson.
Funeral Services honoring the well-lived life of Mrs. Moore will be at 11 AM Monday, January 23 at New Hope Methodist Church with Bro. Jason Franklin officiating. Leon Enzor will have special music. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Arrangements will be provided by The Ripley Funeral Home.
Mrs. Moore was born August 28, 1917 in Tippah County, the daughter of the late Henry Grady and Gertrude Anderson Stephens. On March 14, 1936, she married her beloved husband, John Tramel Moore who preceded her in death on February 1, 1982.
A member of New Hope Methodist Church and a homemaker, Mrs. Moore was employed by Mays Dime Store and Blue Mountain Shirt Factory in her earlier years. She enjoyed her hobbies of designing and sewing beautiful clothing for her four daughters, working in her garden full of beautiful day lillies and raising poodles. Raising poodles was her greatest passion, hobby and talent. She had as many as 35-40 AKC registered poodles at any given time.
Visitation will be from 10:30 AM to 11 AM on Monday, January 23 at New Hope Methodist Church.
Blessed with a loving family, memories will continue to be cherished by three daughters, Barbara Shedd of Brookhaven, Billie Yates of Blue Mountain and Bonnie Hall (James) of Brandon, ten grandchildren, Billy Wingo, Don Yates (Deanna), Greg Yates (Sandy), Roger Shedd, Barry Shedd (Regina), Jim Hall (Peggy), Lisa White (Dale), Justin Moore, Christy Pipkin (Jeff) and Pam Creel (Jeff) and multiple great and great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Moore Wingo, her son, JW “Jack” Moore, two sisters, Louise White and Berenice Clemmer and three brothers, HG, Elwood and Wallace Stephens.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Billy Wingo, Don Yates, Greg Yates, Roger Shedd, Barry Shedd and Jim Hall. Honorary pallbearer will be her son in law, James Hall.
The family request the memorials be directed to New Hope Cemetery Fund, 450 cr 702 Blue Mountain, MS 38610 or charity of choice.
