Jessmer Nelson Sargent, 96, of Double Springs, passed away Friday, Jan. 13, 2017, at Ridgewood Health Care Center in Jasper.
Visitation will be held Monday, Jan. 16, 2017, from 6 until 8 p.m. at Collins-Burke Funeral Home in Jasper. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2017, at noon at Kelly Mill Baptist Church, with burial at Patton Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Townley. Donnie Dodd will officiate.
Mrs. Sargent was preceded in death by her father, James Arthur Hagood; mother, Thula Hagood; first husband, William Belton Nelson; daughter, Ruby Nell Scrivner; sisters, Stasha Swindle and Ruth Hagood; and brothers, Carl Hagood, J.D. Hagood, Elzie Hagood, Earl Hagood, Robert Hagood, and Theophus Hagood.
She is survived by her husband, Earnest T. Sargent of Cordova; sons, Billy Ray Nelson, William Arthur Nelson, Lawrence Nelson, and James Rayburn Nelson, sister, Autress Phillips; brother, Otha Hagood; 17 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; 27 great-great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-great-grandchildren.
