Jessie Mae Holt Miller, age 88, of Florence, passed away Friday, Feb. 14, 2014.
Visitation will be Monday, Feb. 17, noon-2 p.m., at Spry-Williams Funeral Home, Florence. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with Brother John Bradshaw officiating.
Interment will be at Greenview Cemetery.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Miller was a member of Florence First Church of the Nazarene. She was the 1944 valedictorian of Coffee High School and retired from TVA after 37 years of service.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Luther Calvin Miller Sr., and her parents, Marion and Ella H. Holt.
Survivors include children, Marian Miller Martin, Sallie Miller Polk, Luther Calvin Miller Jr. (Jane), Melanie Miller McCormick, Phillip Jerome Miller (Emily); seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.
Jessie was a firm believer in doing things right. She would often say, “Be the task great or small, do it right or not at all.” Jessie loved her church, family and friends, and to travel. She also loved reading and learning new things.
She was a “cat” person and leaves behind Stewart, Simon and Snowball, who have been grieving since she went to the hospital. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Florence First Church of the Nazarene, Salvation Army or Smile Train.
