Jessie Fay Cupps, age 79, of Empire, passed away January 29, 2020. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Cupps; parents, Fonzo and Geneva Spradlin; brothers, Floyd Spradlin, Lee Spradlin, Tommy Spradlin; sisters, Ruth Hensen, Sue Painter and Peggy Drake. Jessie is survived by her son Wendell Cupps (Beth); daughter, Sherilynn Cupps; grandchildren, Brandie Neighbours (Scott), Ashlie Wingo (Kye), Bobby Cupps (Kortney); several great-grandchildren; brother Harold Spradlin and sister Louise Smith. Jessie was raised in West Jefferson. She had a strong personality marked by sarcastic wit and a great sense of humor. She enjoyed cooking breakfast for her grandchildren. Her favorite spot was on the front porch sitting in her rocking chair quilting or sewing. Funeral services will be held at New Horizon Memorial Funeral Home, Saturday, February 1, 2020. Chapel service will begin at 2:00 pm. The family will receive guests from 12:00-2:00 pm. Interment will be at Shanghi Cemetery, Quinton.
