JessieMrs. Jessie Dickerson Jordan, age 98, of Florence, passed away Saturday, September 20, 2014 following a brief illness.

A private graveside service, with Rev. Kevin Johnson officiating, will be held Tuesday morning followed by a time of visitation for family and friends from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Florence.

Mrs. Jordan was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Florence where she held many leadership roles.

She led a very active life, filled with thoughts of others. She had been a Girl Scout leader. She was a supporter of the Florence-Lauderdale Public Library and was instrumental in the Bookmobile service to assisted living families. She began the greenhouse gardening program at Riverbend Center for Mental Health.

Her passions included tennis, bridge, reading, spending time with her family and her many years working with flowers at The Garden Spot in Florence.

Mrs. Jordan was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Barksdale Jordan.

She is survived by children Dale Jordan of Pensacola, Florida, Dick Jordan and wife Libby of Florence, and Anne Allen and husband Jack of Jasper, Alabama; grandchildren Bill Jordan and wife Marianna, Laura Llevat and husband Eric, Matt Allen and wife Morgan, Jud Allen, Hunter Allen and wife Ansley, Tripp Jordan and Lindsay Jordan; great-grandchildren Will Jordan, Matt Jordan, Charlotte Llevat, Jordan Llevat, Ella Frances Allen, and Smith Allen.

The family offers their special thanks to Dr. William Hobbs, friends and staff at Merrill Gardens, the staff at Glenwood Healthcare, and her many friends at First United Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers, please consider memorials to the Florence-Lauderdale Public Library or the First Baptist Church of Florence.
