A Celebration of Life for Mr. Jessie C. “Boochie” Garth, 65, of Moulton, will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 26, 2016, at Pleasant Grove M.B. Church in Courtland with Pastor Robert Pearl officiating and inhumation to follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to funeral. Public viewing will be Friday from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. at Reynolds Funeral Home.
Jessie was born April 5, 1951, in Lawrence County, Alabama to the late Richard Mason Jr. and Edna Garth. He peacefully made his eternal transition on Nov. 21, 2016, in Moulton surrounded by his family and friends.
Jessie accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age and was a member of Pleasant Grove M.B. Church where he sung in the Male Chorus. He spent 16 years in Detroit or “The Motor City” as he called it, where he worked for Chrysler Corporation. He retired and relocated back to Alabama.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Herman Garth, Robert Garth, James Garth, and Lawson Garth; two sisters, Annie B. Goines and Penny Stanley.
He is survived by his daughter, Tiffany Nicole Patton-Roberts (Steven Jacobs); one son, Michael Patton; granddaughter, Heaven Kenico Patton, all of Courtland; three sisters, Emma Jean Garth, Effie Garth, both of Courtland, Ollie White (James), of Moulton; one aunt, Bertha Mae Cooper, Decatur; a devoted niece, Deborah Goines; a devoted friend, Vickie Ball; two special friends, Ernestine Bowden, Felecia Lambert, and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
