Jessie Armond Pendley, age 81, of Oakman, passed away on Wednesday, April 17, 2019.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 20, 2019 at 12:00 p.m. at Sumiton Church of God, funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be at New Horizon Cemetery. Victor Massey and Lane Sargent will officiate.
Armond Pendley was a faithful member of Sumiton Church of God. As a Church of God member for over 50 years he has served as Church Treasurer, Church and Pastors Council member, Sunday School teacher, choir member and worked on Missions Construction Teams across the U.S. He was also a sports enthusiast, as an Alabama fan and was drafted out of the Birmingham League by the New York Yankees. He served his country in the U.S. Army and worked with Wernhar Von Braun at Redstone Arsenal. He was the owner of Custom Cabinet Shop and worked in home construction. He is especially known for assisting churches with volunteer construction labor throughout his life. And, Armond Pendley is honored as a man who faithfully and dearly loved all of his family.
Mr. Pendley was preceded in death by his Dad-Lester “Stiff” Pendley; Mom-Janie Pendley; Sister-Rachael Cobb; Brothers-Buddy Pendley and Velma Pendley.
He is survived by his Wife-Tina Ruth Pendley; Daughters-Barbara Armstrong (Mark) and Gina Bradley (Rick); Sons-Tim Bridges (Renee) and Michael Bridges (Casie); Sister-Dorothy Bean; Brothers-Lehman Pendley (Nell) and Raymond Pendley (Billie); 9 Grandchildren; 15 Great Grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Todd Armstrong, Jake Fischer, Micah Bridges, Jared Spates, Jordan Bridges, Josh Smith, Stewart Wilkerson.
