Jesse Wayne Chastain, 77, passed away Saturday, Aug. 13, 2016, at his residence after an extended illness. Visitation was Monday from 6-8 p.m. at Highland Park Church of Christ, Muscle Shoals, Alabama. Services will be today 11 a.m. at the church. Officiating will be Ben Hayes, Michael South, James Horton, and Michael Jackson.
Pallbearers are Nathan Harwell, Mike Pollard, James Horton, Michael Pollard, Michael South, and Michael Jackson. Wayne was preceded in death by his daughter, Ginger Leigh Chastain, and sister, Nila Faye Harvell.
Survivors are wife of 57 years, Faye Horton Chastain; sons, James Todd Chastain (Joy), of Florence, Alabama, and Mark Alan Chastain (Larissa), of Huntsville, Alabama; grandchildren, Harrison (Madison), Carley, Claire, Hailey, and Ethan Chastain; sister-in-law, Barbara Strange, of Sheffield, Alabama; brother-in-law, James A. Horton (Rose), of Ripley, Mississippi; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Wayne was affectionately known as “Mr. KMart.” He loved all the people he met through his job each day. He never met a stranger, and he loved to laugh. He was honored at his retirement for 38 years of dedicated service to the Kmart Corporation. He received the marksman badge while serving in the Army National Guard and was honorably discharged after years of dedicated service to our country. He loved the Lord with all his heart and especially his Highland Park Church family. He lead by example and was concerned for the welfare of others. He was a jokester, and if he picked on you it was because he loved you. Wayne served on the Board of Directors of the Christian Student Center at the University of North Alabama. He was a deacon at the Annapolis Avenue Church of Christ and later served for many years as an elder at the Highland Park Church of Christ.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mars Hill Bible School, Florence, Alabama. Spry-Williams Funeral Home, Florence,is directing.
