Jesse-Shearon-1451751934Jesse Shearon, 97, departed this life Saturday morning, January 2, 2016 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.

The widower of Clara B. Parker Shearon, who died in 1997, he was retired from Piggly Wiggly as a retail grocer/merchant, having worked there from 1979-1995. He also sold life insurance and worked as a farm manager for Joe McAnulty and R. P. Shackelford, Sr. He was born July 31, 1918, in Hardeman County, son of the late Joe N. and Florence Butler Shearon and moved to Madison County in 1960. In 1980 he relocated to Crockett County where he spent his final years. An avid traveler, he had been to all forty-eight of the continental states. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and was currently the eldest member of the First Baptist Church in Alamo.

Survivors include two sons and their wives, Joe and Judy Shearon of Bells and Tommy and Ann Shearon of Jackson; 6 grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by five sisters and three brothers. The family requests memorial donations in Mr. Shearon’s name be made to the Building Fund of the First Baptist Church in Alamo. Floral tributes for Mr. Shearon’s visitation and service should be delivered directly to the First Baptist Church in Alamo.
