Jesse Lee Willingham, Sr., born March 27, 1962 and passed away March 29, 2019. Jesse was a people person. No matter what kind of mood he was in, he was always friendly and would make anyone smile. He was a great listener and always had wisdom to share. Laid back and easy going, he was a blast to be around. He never let the hardships of life spoil his kind spirit or his unique sense of humor.
Jesse was dedicated to his job with 5 Star Food Service for 9 years as a vending attendant at Pilgrims Pride in Guntersville.
He had a passion for cars and motorcycles, but few things made him happier than being on the water. He was a sucker for dogs, home cooking and a good Jager bomb. He even liked to sing karaoke (as long as it was Jimmy Buffet), and was a fan of the poetry of Pablo Neruda.
Most of all, Jesse loved his kids. He poured his heart into them, did his best to raise them to the best of his ability, and did a really solid job too.
He was old school. He believed in God, family, hard work and the golden rule.
He didn’t care who you were, where you came from, what job you had or what political party you were with, he would treat everyone with kindness and positivity wherever he went.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester Leon Willingham and Laura Eunice Willingham; and brother, Clifford Willingham.
He survived by his 2 children: his son, Jesse Willingham Jr., and daughter, Laura McCarver, and 2 grandchildren Isaiah Keith McCarver and Georgia Kay McCarver, and many friends who were more family than friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, April 13th in Scottsboro near the Goosepond Amphitheater at 2:30 p.m. Friends and family will gather at Stevarino’s in Scottsboro afterwards. In lieu of flowers, Jesse’s family ask that you donate to the Lions Club at alabamalionssight.org or the Alabama Institute for the Deaf and Blind at aidb.org.
