Jerry Wayne Norwood, born July 23, 1941, in McNairy County, Tennessee, to the late Roy Norwood and Trudy Garrison Norwood, passed away on September 16, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, dedication, and deep love for his family.
A veteran of the United States Navy, Jerry served his country before embarking on a career as a truck driver for the pipeline. In a defining turn of determination, he came home one day and decided to pursue a new path, putting himself through law school to build a legal career. He earned his bachelor’s degree in 1977 and briefly taught at Ramer School. After successfully running his own private practice, he went on to serve as the Assistant District Attorney in Bolivar, Tennessee.
Beyond his professional achievements, Jerry was an avid outdoorsman. He spent countless hours deer and turkey hunting, and he treasured fishing trips, especially boating out to Diamond Head with his daughter Becky in search of catfish and sauger. At home, he took great pride in his garden, spending sunny days working in the dirt with his beloved wife Margie right by his side.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Trudy Norwood; his son, Todd Norwood; and his sister, Opal Bobbit.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 63 years, Margie Olean (Carper) Norwood, whom he married on September 21, 1963; his daughter, Becky Norwood of Ramer, TN; his son, Eric Norwood of Nashville, TN; his grandson, Blake Norwood of Brooklyn, NY; his sister, Billie Young of Eads, TN; and his brother, James Norwood of Ramer, TN.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
