Jerry Wayne Borden, age 71, of Cherokee, died Monday, Oct. 24, 2016. His family received friends Wednesday, 6-8 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will be today, 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Brother Wayne Green officiating. Burial will follow in Barton Cemetery.
Wayne was a Colbert County native and a member of Barton United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Margie Borden and by his in-laws, Bud and Nora Gipson. He found joy in seeing joy in everyone he met. He was so unique in every way, loving, compassionate, kind, and caring for everyone. He was a loving devoted daddy, pawpaw, brother, and a well-known musician. He was very passionate about music and was a collector of beautiful things and antiques.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Borden; son Galelus Borden (Kimberly); daughter, Andrea Garrison (Todd); brother Randall Borden (Lisa); sister, Lynne South (Billy), and five granddaughters, Madison and Molly Borden, Katie, Natalie, and Maliha Garrison.
Pallbearers are Billy Aday, Todd Garrison, Dexter Sheffield, Katie Garrison, Maynard Hester, and Wayne Green.
Honorary pallbearers are Billy South, Jason Hester and Bill Fountain.
