Jerry Ray Harper, age 79 of Cowan, passed away on Monday, February 26, 2024, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. A native of Franklin County, he was born on January 31, 1945, to the late Arthur Ray and Josie Ethel (Bailey) Harper. Jerry served in the National Guard, from which he retired. He also worked at the Marquette Cement Plant and as an owner and operator of a dry wall and construction company before completely retiring. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and playing poker, as well as travelling with friends…he was ready to go if his friends were going! Jerry was a member of Cowan First Baptist Church. He will be remembered for his kind, friendly nature, and his outgoing personality. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Lee Harper. Jerry is survived by his loving children, Terry (Amy) Harper, Kevin (Amy) Harper, and Candace (Steve) Garrett; grandchildren, Christopher (Kaitlyn) Harper, Ariana Harper, Haven Harper, Hayle Harper, Katie Ramryn, and Sloan Garrett; great-grandchild, Zoey Harper; sister, Shirley Curtis; step-brother, Charles Green; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 5-8pm on Friday, March 1, 2024, at Watson Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, March 2, 2024, in the Roy B. Watson Chapel of Watson Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Cowan Montgomery Cemetery with Bro. L.Z. Johnson officiating.
