Jerry Ray Cooper Jerry Ray Cooper, 75, of Somerville, Alabama, passed away August 2026.

Jerry spent much of his working life in automotive manufacturing at the Saginaw/Delphi plant near Decatur before his retirement.

Jerry had a lifelong love of cars and accumulated quite a collection over the years. He was well known for his collection of tools, parts, and junk—and rarely passed through Lacon without finding something else worth bringing home. Jerry also enjoyed dancing and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles (F.O.E.).

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Rozene Wilson Cooper Copas and Gordon Cooper, and twin siblings, Glenn and Lynn Cooper. He also leaves behind a paper trail considerably longer than this obituary.

He is survived by his three daughters, four grandchildren, six siblings, a host of nieces and nephews, and many special friendships.

No services are planned. Those who knew Jerry are invited to leave a message or memory for the family on his online obituary.
