Jerry Nelson Guntharp – Obituary

Jerry Nelson Guntharp, 71, passed away Tuesday, August 30, 2016, at his home in Mantachie after a stroke he suffered three years ago. He was born November 20, 1944 in Fulton, MS to the late Harvey J. Guntharp and the late Maulsie Bowen Guntharp.
Jerry was a construction superintendent at Sanderson Construction in Amory, MS for over 28 years and he also worked previously for Bristow Construction, Southland Construction and JESCO, Inc. Before his retirement he owned his own private business making furniture legs for various furniture companies in the area.
On June 12, 1964 he married his high school sweetheart, Linda Grace Gregory, and they were married over 52 years.
Jerry was a Deacon at Dorsey Baptist Church where he was very active in all church activities until his illness.
Services will be at 10:00 am on Friday September 2, 2016 at Senter Funeral Home with Bro. Josh Westmoreland, and Dr. Edem Dzunu officiating. Burial will be in Harden’s Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:0 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday September 1, 2106 at Senter Funeral Home.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Guntharp of Mantachie, Son, Derrick (Molly Walsh) Guntharp, 3 Daughters, Paula Parker, Pamela (Dr. Edem) Dzunu, Rebecca (Tucker) Sutton, Grandchildren, Brandon Beam, Scott (Kaity) Parker, Tessa Guntharp, Etornam Dzunu, great garndchildren, Joshua, Jakob, Waylon, Bradley, Brother, Victor (Jane) Guntharp, Sister, Corrine Williams, 3 sister in laws, Betty Guntharp, Peggy Grissom, Mary Butler, brother in law, Bro. Castor Buse, several nieces and nephews, special neighbor, Christy Harmon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Brother, Cortez Guntharp, 2 Sisters, Iva Lee Buse, Mary Burk, 3 infant siblings, and son in law, J.L. Parker.
His nephews will be pallbearers.
