Jerry Lynn Gerhold, Jr., of Albertville, Alabama, left us peacefully after 57 years on January 20, 2025, surrounded by his friends and family. A devoted husband, father, uncle, and son, Jerry Lynn, will always be remembered for his love and dedication to the Mountain Dew.
Jerry Lynn graced the earth with his presence on January 2, 1968, in Akron, Ohio. He grew up as the oldest of three children.
Jerry enlisted in the United States Army in 1987 as a Flight Engineer for Chinook aircraft. He served in Desert Shield/ Desert Storm. During his time in service, He was awarded the Army Service Ribbon, Army Lapel Button, National Defense Service Medal, Sharpshooter Badge (Rifle/M16), Army Achievement Medal, Aircraft Crewmember Badge, Army Good Conduct Medal (2nd Award), Army Commendation Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, Southwest Asia Service Medal with 3 Bronze Stars, Kuwait Liberation Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon (2nd Award).
After his time in service, he returned to Toney, Alabama to begin civilian life. He spent his career working as a truck driver in the freight industry for many different freight lines.
His love and dedication to public service continued when he began working with the Toney Volunteer Fire Department in 1995. He continued to be an asset until his departure as a Captain from the organization after 20 years of service.
After two previous marriages, Jerry found the love of his life, Terri in 2013 and spent all his time trying to get her attention. Once she finally gave in, he showed her what true love, devotion, and dedication looked like. They got married in 2015 and remained truly in love until his passing.
He is survived by his wife, Terri, daughters Khloe and Ashlee, father, Jerry Lynn Sr, his brother Ronnie, sister Lisa (Marcus), and brothers Cody, and Corey (Audra). He leaves behind nieces Veronika (Matthew), Amanda, Jacque (Cole) and grandnieces Annzleigh and Gracelynn, and grandnephews Paxton and James Oliver and best friend, Dennis. He was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Jo.
A memorial service will be held on February 1, 2025, at Albertville Memorial Chapel, located at 5011 US Highway 431 South in Albertville, Alabama. Visitation will be from 11am to 1pm, with a short service to follow at 1pm. No internment is planned.
The family has asked that those in attendance please wear casual clothing in the colors of red and black in honor of Jerry.
