 Jerry Leon WagesJerry Leon Wages, of Tuscumbia, passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at the age of 80. His graveside service will be Thursday, June 6, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at Colbert Memorial Gardens with Pastor Barrett Long officiating. The visitation will follow at the Fellowship Hall, First Baptist Church of Tuscumbia from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.

Jerry graduated from Mississippi State University in Finance and from LSU and the University of Oklahoma Banking Schools. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired as Senior Vice President from Bank Independent. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Tuscumbia where he served as Treasurer for 51 years, deacon, Sunday School teacher and Chairman of Trustees. He was Chairman of the DHR Board of Colbert County, served on the Board of North Alabama Hospice and was a volunteer Tax Aide. He was also part of the Tuscumbia Civitan Club and was a member of the Tuscumbia City School Board for 16 years. Jerry was a family man. He loved the beach, Mississippi State and Deshler football. He enjoyed spending time on his screened porch and traveling.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Clannie “Buddy” and Beryl Wages.

Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Olivia James Wages; children, Angela Wages Rush of Montgomery and David James Wages of Pelham; brother, Johnny Wages of Independence, LA; sister, Gay Wilson of Florence; and grandchildren, Olivia Meriwether Rush and Atwood Bullock Rush, III of Montgomery, and Tyler David Wages and Grace Ann Wages of Pelham.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the First Baptist Church of Tuscumbia at 203 North Dickson Street, Tuscumbia, Alabama 35674.

The Deacons of the First Baptist Church of Tuscumbia will serve as pallbearers.
