jerryJerry Lee Davidson died on Saturday, April 9, 2016.

Born September 27, 1935 Bradford, TN and grew up in Lansing, MI .

He met Alta Allford while at Freed-Hardeman College and they were married on December 9, 1955. He has served in church work all his adult life, either as a preacher, deacon, elder or professor of Bible. Jerry has preached full-time at a number of congregations. From Aruba to Zambia, from Arkansas to West Virginia, his ministry has taken him on evangelistic campaigns in 33 countries and 22 states. His first full-time preaching was in Battle Creek, MI, where their first son Rick was born. From there, they spent 13 years working in French and English in Montreal, Canada where their next son John and daughter Nancy were born. After a work in Baltimore, MD the family moved to Ivory Coast, West Africa for mission work there. The move back to the United States brought the family to Oxford, AL, and then to Florence, AL, to teach at International Bible College (now Heritage Christian University) and direct the World Bible School in French. Jerry and Alta retired from Heritage in 2005 after 23 years. He was preceded in death by his parents Herbert and Ruby Davidson and brother, Keith Davidson. He is survived by his wife of 60 years Alta, children: Rick Davidson (Karen) , John Davidson (Beth); Nancy Howdyshell (Mike); grandchildren: Laura (Davidson) Selvy, Mac, Meg and Will Davidson, Andrew, Austin and Abby Howdyshell, Brad Humphrey, Randi Johnsey and James Nesbitt, brother, Darryl Davidson and sister, Sandra Elliott.

Visitation will be Monday l2:00 to 3:00 p.m. with funeral following at 3:00 at Chisholm Hills Church of Christ with Charles Abernathy and Alvin Alston officiating.

Pallbearers are Jesse Wisdom; Karl Hall; Tim Harper; Jayson Foote; George Goldman and Philip Marks.

Honorary pallbearers are the elders of Chisholm Hills Church of Christ.

Thanks to Gentiva Hospice, his special care giver Alvin Alston and the wheel chair helpers at Chisholm Hills Church of Christ.
