Jerry Glenn Lankford
September 22, 1945 – January 16, 2019
Born on September 22 of 1945 in Gadsden, Alabama, Jerry entered the Air Force in 1964 and served until 1972. But service to his country and community did not stop there.
An active member of the American Legion Post in Huntsville, Jerry Lankford served thirty years on the Honor Guard as its Commander and in 2018 received an official Proclamation from Huntsville’s Mayor Tommy Battle, commending his service to veterans and their families in Huntsville and Madison County.
After a long and valiant battle with cancer, Jerry left this world on January 16, 2019 for his next duty station at Post Everlasting at the age of 73. He leaves behind his wife, Joan Lankford, daughters Deborah Edokpayi and Jeanie Weaver,five grandchildren, two and ½ great-grandchildren and was preceded in passing by one great-grandchild.
His sense of humor and his stories will be missed by many friends and family.
The family will receive friends Sunday, January 20th from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. at Berryhill Funeral Home followed by memorial service at 3:00 with Chaplain Benny Seals officiating.
